As Calamity’s newest resident, Everly Christian thought life in small-town Montana would be dull and tame—and she needs a little mundane after the last few chaotic years. But one night, boredom drives her to the local bar, where she finds herself sitting beside a handsome and mysterious artist.

The man is anything but dull and tame, especially in the bedroom, and when she steps out of his shower and overhears his conversation, life gets interesting again.

Reese Huxley needs a wife.

And why shouldn’t Everly be the bride?

She’s got her reasons for agreeing to the hasty nuptials—reasons she’s keeping to herself. As long as she can stop herself from falling in love with her husband, she’ll make it out of this sham marriage in one piece. But Everly has a weakness for wayward men, and the more Hux pushes her away, the more she realizes this bluff is anything but a lie.

Review

4 ‘Don’t say shit like that to me’ Stars!

ARC provided via Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.

Who was ready for grumpy Hux to find his match? Because I sure was excited when I found out his story would be a marriage of convenience with Everly, Lucy’s best friend from The Bribe. So yeah, the continuation of Devney Perry’s novels as Willa Nash is working so well, especially when the second book has so many of my favorite troupes. Marriage of convenience. Check! Small town romance. Check! Grumpy and sexy painter / single dad. Check! Sassy and loving heroine. Check! Burning chemistry. DOUBLE CHECK! As you can imagine, Willa did not disappoint with her newest release.

The Bluff is the second installment of Willa Nash’s Calamity Montana series and, as I mentioned, it follows the love story between Everly Christian and Reese Huxley. Everly is Calamity’s newest resident, she has followed her best friend after deciding to leave her singing dreams aside and leaving behind the bad experience that happened in The Bribe. She doesn’t know what to do next with her life and then is when she meets Hux and they have an explosive night. Hux is an incredible painter who loves his daughter dearly and now he needs a wife so he can get Savannah back home. So why not marry Everly for some time and continue enjoying their chemistry (no strings attached)? No feelings involved. Right?

What was it about that woman who made me act on impulse? That first night in the bar. The second night at her place. And now… marriage.

Oh man.. Willa Nash is a mix of all good things Devney Perry and a double dose of steam. And I am a FAN. ‘Cause this girl looooooooves the steam. And let me tell you, Hux and Everly’s chemistry burns the pages from the very start to the very end. I loved how Willa developed this relationship, the fake marriage turning into a real one and the interactions with Savannah and the rest of the crew. I have to say, I especially enjoyed the last third of The Bluff because it was when Hux and Everly’s relationship turned into something more and their emotions got involved 100%. Yes, I loved the sexy times but this time I confess I enjoyed the mix of that with the feelings more. That’s why I loved the last part best. I am so glad these two lost souls found each other and created such a beautiful family. They sure deserve it!

I wanted him. Every broken, grumpy, beautiful piece.

Therefore, my rating for The Bluff is 4 STARS because Willa did a wonderful job with this fake marriage / single dad romance. It makes me love the people from Calamity even more and be more excited for the next installment in the series. Hux and Everly did give us beautiful and smoking hot moments and I am so glad they found happiness together. After all their past, they deserved to find that unbreakable connection. And I do hope Savannah gets her story too because I am excited after that bonus epilogue! So looking forward to read more from Willa Nash and the Calamity Montana crew!
