Timing is everything.
Presley Hale and Sebastian Vargas are no strangers to goodbye. Their high school summers were spent wrapped up in each other until she would inevitably go home to California. One season after college, Sebastian finally escaped the little Texas town to travel the world, and they said goodbye for what they thought might be the last time.
Sebastian went one way. Presley went the other.
For the first time in five years, they’re both in town, but the timing is no better than ever. So the only thing to do is what they do best. Keep it casual.
Friends with benefits. They’ve done it before—doing it again will be easy. But their hearts don’t get the memo.
When the lines of their arrangement blur, Presley and Sebastian are faced with decisions they’ve avoided for years. And that’s not even their biggest problem.
A small town in danger of failing. A secret that could tear them apart. And two hearts that can’t hide anymore.
They’ve shared so many summers, but none compare to what they’ll face.
Timing is everything. And their time is almost up.
4 ‘Perfect timing’ Stars!

Staci Hart is back with her second take at small town romance and I’ve been ready for it ever since finishing Bet the Farm. Friends with Benedicts can be considered a spin-off of that one (which I highly recommend!) but can totally be read as a standalone. I love a feel-good love story and Staci is a master when it comes to those. This one was no exception, it was a light read, with a bit of drama, a couple with sizzling chemistry, a sweet and adorable child and a great crew of secondary characters!
Friends with Benedicts is, as I said, a standalone novel from Staci Hart and it tells the story of Presley Hale, a character we already met in Bet the Farm. Presley is back in Lindenbach, the place she spent many summers in, enjoying the company of swoony Sebastian Vargas. Now she is with her adorable daughter Priscilla and she finally must face the music: Sebastian is Cilla’s father and he needs to know. Also, their intense relationship and connection is very much the same and they decide to become friends with benefits. What will happen when their paths inevitably separate? Or will they fight to stay together this time?
I wouldn’t let tomorrow stop me today. Because today, she was mine in the most elemental of ways. There was nothing between us in this simple place. Only me and her. And I’d take every minute I could. While I could.
Staci is a very talented author and she was able to mix so many different troupes in Friends with Benedicts, which I loved! This novel features a small town, friends to lovers, summer fling and second chance romance and it just works. I am a huge fan of small towns, since they give attention not only to the couple but the amazing people around them. Friends with Benedicts has a great list of characters, including the main and secondary, the good ones and the villains. I love familiarity in my books and this one has so many amazing moments with both families involved (Presley’s and Sebastian’s). And this couple is one of those that gets back to their sizzling connection as soon as they reunite. These two together (and with Cilla) were so incredibly sweet! Yes, I do have to say there was quite a lot of miscommunication sometimes and that made me a bit uneasy, but everything got solved in the end. Overall, it was a pretty amazing read!
“We were supposed to wish too?” Presley asked. “I didn’t.” I turned her a little so I could look down into her face. “Already have everything I ever wished for.”
Therefore, I am rating Friends with Benedicts with 4 STARS because it was a very entertaining, sweet and sexy read that portrays a list of main and secondary characters that have stolen my heart. Presley and Sebastian were so great together, I loved how easy their reunion was and the cuteness overload that was them as a family with Priscilla. Yes, the thing with miscommunication ruined some moments for me but, as I said, as a whole it was a great light romance that I am sure many readers and Staci fans will love!

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that.
She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.
When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
